Three Ages of Mankind
Three Ages of Mankind - color
I was feeling in a philosophical mood the day I drew this. The faces are deliberately gender-unspecific and the intention was to make a general statement about life. My original title for it was, as can be seen, "Vision," and the intention was to be somewhat ironic--but the eyes are closed not so much in deliberate refusal to see as more that they are yet asleep, with all consciousness internal rather than external. Human awareness has yet to be achieved.

The next image that I kept in my original collection of these drawings was Prelate. Click the link to see why.
